Food Safety Inspection Spending to be Cut Back ? Modernization is the Key

The Food and Drug Administration currently receives $837 million to make sure that Americans' foods are safe to eat. President Barack Obama recommended an increase to $955 million, but instead, the House Appropriations subcommittee is looking to cut back and have spending set at $750 million. Not only is the FDA not getting in increase in spending, but they have to cut back food inspections, among other things. One in six Americans is already getting sick because the FDA cannot handle all it has to deal with, and now with a budget cut, they will be even more swamped than before. It is now important, more than ever, for companies to take food safety inspections into their own hands in order to ensure the safety and health of the American people.
